Caitlin Clark Makes Her Opinion of Kate Martin Extremely Clear

Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin were both fan-favorites during their time as Iowa teammates, and both were selected in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Clark went off the board with the No. 1 overall pick to the Indiana Fever, and Martin went No. 18 to the Las Vegas Aces.

Though they’ve now gone their separate ways with new professional teams, Clark and Martin still remain close friends. During a recent press conference, Clark revealed that she and Martin still communicate “every single day” as they begin their respective WNBA careers.

“She’s obviously one of my best friends, so even if she wasn’t in training camp with the Aces I would still be talking to her,” Clark said. “… We can just bounce ideas off each other, whether it’s life or basketball. Obviously I just want the best for her no matter what.”

As a second-round draft pick, Martin is still fighting for a final roster spot with the Aces. On Monday, she made it past the second round of roster cuts.

“I hope she can make that team,” Clark continued. “She’s a pro player. She brings every asset that you could possibly want — whether it’s shooting, defense or leadership. In my eyes she’s one of the best leaders I’ve been around in my entire life.

“… She’s somebody I can always lean on and rely on, whether she’s my teammate, whether she’s just my friend — I wish she was still my teammate. I’m just really happy and excited for her.”

Clark and the Fever will face off against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night.
