Bob Rathbun, the play-by-play announcer for the Hawks, was fed up with Tatum’s complaining, and made a Caitlin Clark comparison to roast him.
“Boy, Jayson Tatum does a lot of complaining. Who does he think he is, Caitlin Clark?” Rathbun said.
“Caitlin Clark was complaining so much her dad got on her at the tournament from the stands.”
Clark went viral during March Madness after expressing her displeasure with the officiating during her game.
During the opening round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament, Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes led Holy Cross 48-29.
Iowa was called for a foul and Clark was fuming over the call, storming over to the officials to argue the decision.
However, ESPN cameras panned over to Clark’s dad in the crowd who screamed “Stop!” at her with an angry face.
The guidance from her dad appeared to calm Clark down, but it didn’t stop fans from attacking her for the attitude.
“Every game! He gotta be sick and tired of this move,” one fan said.
“She do be yapping a lot to the refs,” another fan said.
“Love watching her play, but she does seem to complain alot,” a third fan said.
“I love watching her play but she is easy to root against bc of her antics and complaining,” a fourth fan said.
CLARK’S MARCH MADNESS RUN
Clark and the Hawkeyes are back in the Sweet 16 after storming through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
In the first round, Clark dropped 27 points with 10 assists and eight rebounds in a 91-65 win over Holy Cross.
In the second round, Clark put up 32 points with eight rebounds an three assists in a 64-54 win over West Virgina.
Clark and the Hawkeyes have their toughest task of the tournament coming up in the Sweet 16, playing No. 5 seed Colorado for a spot in the Elite Eight.
If Iowa can get past Colorado, they have a chance for a rematch against No. 3 LSU. Iowa lost in the National Championship game against the Tigers last year.
If LSU beats No. 2 UCLA, they will take on the winner of Iowa-Colorado.
Iowa faces Colorado on Saturday at 3:30 pm ET.
