Canelo Alvarez is widely considered to be one of the greatest boxers of this generation. He is a multiple-weight world champion and has cemented himself in the history of the sport.

While Alvarez is set to return to the squared circle in about a week’s time, in this piece, we will rewind the clock and take a look at the two losses he has had in his career.

For those unaware, Canelo Alvarez currently boasts a record of 60-2-2. He suffered his first loss against Floyd Mayweather back in 2013. The fight remains to be one of the biggest fights to have ever taken place in the history of the sport.

However, it wasn’t ideal for Alvarez as he lost the fight via majority decision. After this, Alvarez went undefeated and won world titles in multiple divisions before challenging Dmitry Bivol for the light heavyweight title.

However, Canelo Alvarez was outclassed throughout the fight and lost it by a unanimous decision. If one were to imagine which of his losses was worse, it has to be the one against Bivol, as he was utterly dominated throughout the fight.

When is Canelo Alvarez fighting next?

As mentioned earlier, Canelo Alvarez is set to return to the squared circle soon. In his next fight, Alvarez will face Jamie Munguia and try to defend his undisputed super middleweight title in what would be his 65th professional fight.

The fight will take place during the Cinco de Mayo weekend on May 4 in Las Vegas. As one would assume, Alvarez has emerged as a considerable favorite in the fight.

That said, it will be interesting to see if he will be able to emerge victorious once again or not inside the boxing ring.
