Angel Reese injury update: Why did LSU basketball star arrive in walking boot?


LSU women’s basketball forward Angel Reese was seen in a walking boot as she arrived at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Sunday for the Tigers’ SEC tournament championship game against South Carolina.

Reese, who still started the Tigers’ game against the undefeated Gamecocks, reaggravated an ankle issue in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament against Auburn on Friday, and played through the ailment in Saturday’s win against Ole Miss.

The SEC’s Player of the Year rolled her ankle in the fourth quarter against Auburn on Friday and was helped off the court by trainers and didn’t re-enter the game.

She then was seen in a walking boot again on Saturday ahead of the Ole Miss game, but still played and scored 21 points.

LSU will need Reese in full force as it looks to hand South Carolina its first loss of the season.

Angel Reese injury update

Reese rolled her ankle in LSU’s game against Auburn on Friday, which forced her to miss the remainder of the fourth quarter.

Although she has sported a walking boot since the ailment, the Tigers star has played through the injury, scoring 21 points against Ole Miss on Saturday.

She also started LSU’s SEC tournament championship game against South Carolina on Sunday.

“I’m feeling good. It’s OK, I roll my ankle all the time so it’s fine,” Reese told ESPN’s Brooke Weisbrod on Friday.

Reese added: “Oh for sure, I’m from Baltimore. I will be there, I’m good.”
