BBC Breakfast star’s ‘DANGEROUS’ question as CO-H0ST admits ‘WE’RE GOING TO REGRET THIS’

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent was left red-faced on Wednesday’s instalment of the show, as her co-host Ben Thompson warned that they would “regret” something live on air

BBC Breakfast’s Ben Thompson confessed: “We’re going to regret this,” as his co-host Sally Nugent asked a “dangerous” question.

On the Wednesday episode (August 28) of the programme, fill-in anchor Ben was covering Jon Kay’s usual slot during his summer holiday when they started chatting about dog agility courses. Sally reached out to the audience, saying: “Have you got a dog with any interesting skills? We would love to hear from you!” Ben couldn’t help but add: “We’re so going to regret this.”

Sally acknowledged the risky nature of the request, commenting: “Pretty dangerous question. I don’t know why we’re asking that, but,” reports the Express.

Ben, ever the encourager, said: “But do send them in!” while Sally tried to guide the viewers, adding: “Any good tricks, basically. Send us a message, a photo the details are on your screen right now of your dog maybe doing a particularly clever trick. Or being obedient!”

This all followed a segment about a dog named Hope, whose owner Jason had taken her to compete in the Dog Agility World Championships in Belgium.

Despite his initial skepticism, Ben was won over by the story, admitting: “Actually I’m really impressed. I was a bit of a cynic about that, but that’s actually a good thing. That was spot on.”

This light-hearted moment came after Ben had to say sorry to weather presenter Carol Kirkwood on Tuesday’s programme, after he quipped to the audience: “So now that the Bank Holiday weekend is over, the weather is getting really good.”

Carol corrected him quickly, saying: “That is not the forecast by the way,” but Ben conceded: “This is why we leave it to the professionals, Carol. That is much more accurate after my terrible forecast, I am sorry.”

Carol didn’t take any offence and warmly told Ben: “Bless you, Ben!”

Viewers were urged to send their own stories (Image: (Image: BBC))With Jon Kay absent from today’s show, viewers have been quick to praise Ben’s presenting chops on social media.

One viewer declared: “The A-team!” while another chimed in with: “My favourite BBC Breakfast presenters.” Yet another fan raved: “The best and only way to start the day.”

Another comment came flying in: “Great when your on Breakfast like Nina on too should change presenters round all the time even on Thursday and Friday.”
