The charitable duo just dropped some serious cash on a holiday home in Lisbon, Portugal. But how did they afford it? I’ve got a theory, and I’d love to hear what you all think. As we know, Harry and Meghan don’t have any new deals on the horizon—no fresh Netflix or Spotify contracts that we’re aware of.
This news first came from Richard Eden at the *Daily Mail*, who mentioned that after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, Harry and Meghan didn’t have a permanent residence in the UK. But now, they’ve secured a home in Portugal.
Interestingly, they’re not the only royals with property there—Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her husband Jack Brooksbank also have a home on the Portuguese coast. Jack works in marketing and sales for the Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxurious development near Lisbon. Eugenie and Jack split their time between Portugal and London, living the dream of the rich and royal.
But let’s circle back to Harry and Meghan—where is their income coming from? Their big Netflix and Spotify deals seem to be drying up, and outside of their charitable efforts through Archewell, what else are they doing for money? The only reasonable explanation, in my view, is that inheritance from the Queen. If you can think of another source of income, let me know in the comments!
Steph also suggested that Meghan might have pushed Harry to buy this second home as a way to obtain a “Golden Visa.” This type of visa would grant them visa-free access to the Schengen Area in Europe, allowing them to travel freely across countries like Italy, Germany, and Greece.
Back when Meghan and Harry first got engaged, it was announced that Meghan would become a dual U.S.-UK citizen, but that never happened. After they left the UK in 2020, she abandoned her bid for British citizenship. Could this new home purchase be a way for her to still gain some form of European residency?
It’s an intriguing theory, especially since Harry and Meghan recently enjoyed a romantic getaway in Portugal after the Invictus Games in Germany. They reportedly spent time at the Costa Terra resort, where they might have been house hunting.
This area is known for its exclusivity and is frequented by cinema, royalty, and fashion elites, including George Clooney’s business partner, Mike Meldman, who co-founded the development.
Now, let’s talk about their primary residence in Montecito, California. It’s a sprawling estate valued at $19.5 million, featuring seven bedrooms, 13.5 bathrooms (why so many bathrooms?), a library, cinema, gym, pool, and even a chicken coop! And now, on top of all that, they’ve gone ahead and purchased another home—a holiday retreat in Lisbon. The question remains: how are they funding this lifestyle?
Sure, Harry may have received that £8 million inheritance, but even so, maintaining two high-end properties is no small feat. What exactly are Harry and Meghan doing to sustain this kind of wealth? They claim to focus on charitable efforts, but how much of Archewell’s income is going to fund their lifestyle? Are they exploiting charitable donations to finance these luxurious purchases? I’m not accusing them outright, but I think it’s a question worth asking.
At this point, their celebrity status seems to be fueling their fortune. But unlike stars like George Clooney or Taylor Swift, who have worked for years to earn their success, what have Harry and Meghan actually done to deserve this kind of wealth? It’s hard to justify, especially when they present themselves as champions of charity and goodwill.
I’m curious—am I the only one questioning where their money is coming from? I’d love to see a more detailed audit of their finances, particularly in regard to their charitable foundation.
The clock might be ticking for Harry and Meghan, and I believe more revelations about their financial situation are on the horizon.
