Indiana Fever Coach Has Implemented a Strict Rule For Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is in the midst of her transition to the WNBA level as the Indiana Fever’s No. 1 overall pick.

 

The former Iowa superstar experienced her fair share of struggles through her first couple games, and head coach Christie Sides is attempting to combat those struggles with a simple rule.

“I gave her a rule the other day. She’s got 0.5 seconds to make a decision… She has a habit of hanging out and dancing. That’s what she’s done. It’s those habits that we’ve got to break,” Sides said after the Fever’s second regular-season game.

Clark has slowly improved since her 10-turnover WNBA debut against the Connecticut Sun. On Saturday, she scored a career-high 22 points in a loss to the New York Liberty.

On Monday night, Clark and the Fever will take the court yet again for a matchup against the Sun. Indiana is 0-3 to start the year and on the hunt for its first win of the season.

Much like Taylor Swift was coming out of a six-year committed relationship with Joe Alwyn, Travis Kelce had also ended a long relationship shortly before they got together. Kayla Nicole Slammed Swifties And Asked Them To Leave Her Alone

Imagn Sometimes fans can get a little too intense about their love for an artist, and swifties are no exception. Apparently, Kayla Nicole, Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, was on the receiving end of attacks from Taylor Swift fans, who felt she had slammed Taylor’s music. While she’s generally not that outspoken about her problems, it seems the online bashing got a little too much for the model, which is understandable, and she clapped back at swifties. “I’m unproblematic. Mind my business. Never respond to the constant vitriol. Solid as they come & don’t expect a pat on the back for it either,” she defended herself. “Just know everyone has a breaking point & would love for ‘yall’ (because you know exactly who you are) to leave me alone.” She received, mostly, a lot of support from the comments on her post, and there were even some swifties who sent their love and asked other fans to stop hating on Kayla Nicole. “As a lifelong swiftie and a big fan of yours, I feel like I need to apologize on their behalf for how disgusting they are to you. you don’t deserve it at all and please know there are some of us who also love and respect you and wish they would just leave you alone,” one user wrote, and was praised by other swifties.

Instagram @taylorswift There was always a certain hostility towards Kayla Nicole for simply being Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, but it noticeably ramped up after a particular tweet that swifties interpreted as her trashing Taylor’s music. “There’s just no way I can fully digest all these new albums. I’m still on Cowboy Carter,” she wrote the day before Taylor Swift released her new album, and a lot of people thought she was calling The Tortured Poets Department irrelevant. “Girl bye… always throwing some sneaky little shade but don’t have the guts to just come out and say it. Insecure and extremely immature!!” a user wrote in reply. 2:19  RELATED There are a lot of unique things about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s fascinating relationship. A lot of commenters told her that no one cared what she thought, saying that Taylor Swift didn’t need her streams, despite the model never even mentioning the pop star. Others accused her of playing the victim, and provoking swifties just to claim they bully her, but it honestly seems like a stretch, since Kayla was simply praising Beyonce’s new album. Travis and Kayla dated for five years, so of course she was an important person in his life, but it seems they parted on good terms, and Kayla still gets along with the Kelce family.

Heading into halftime, the broadcast showed the former Iowa Hawkeyes star in a conversation with her teammate Aaliyah Boston as they walked to the locker room. Although the audio wasn’t captured, Boston appeared animated while talking to Clark, who seemed to take her teammate’s words to heart. The commentators noted that despite Boston’s emphatic demeanor, she was offering support to Clark during the exchange: 

Expand TweetIn her WNBA debut, Caitlin Clark had a less-than-stellar first half, contributing seven points on 2-of-7 shooting, one assist and five turnovers. She ended the game with 20 points, making 5-of-15 shots from the field, 4-of-11 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. She contributed only three assists and grabbed zero rebounds and finished with 10 turnovers. However, Caitlin Clark wasn’t the only one who faced difficulties. The Indiana Fever had only one other player scoring in double digits: forward Nalyssa Smith, who ended the game with 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Aaliyah Boston, playing for 29 minutes, tallied four points, six rebounds and four turnovers. On the Connecticut Sun side, five players achieved double-digit scoring: DeWanna Bonner with 20 points and six rebounds; DiJonai Carrington with 16 points and five rebounds; Tyasha Harris with 16 points; Alyssa Thomas with a remarkable 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, while Rachel Banham contributed 10 points off the bench. The Fever split their two preseason games. They suffered a narrow defeat in their first game against the Dallas Wings, 79-76, where Caitlin Clark had 21 points on 6-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-13 from beyond the arc, and contributed three rebounds, two assists and two steals. In their next preseason game, Clark guided Indiana to an 83-80 victory over the Atlanta Dream, coming close to achieving a triple-double, recording 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Indiana Fever host graduation ceremony for Caitlin Clark

After completing her marketing degree at Iowa, Caitlin Clark missed her graduation ceremony due to her WNBA commitments. However, her new teammates with the Indiana Fever organized a special celebration for her. Since she couldn’t attend her Iowa graduation, the Fever surprised her with a graduation ceremony, which they shared on social media. Aaliyah Boston took charge of the celebration and even presented Clark with a makeshift “Certificate of Graduation.” Watch it here:
