WNBA star Angel Reese and golf icon Nelly Korda were among the athletes to hit the red carpet at Monday night’s Met Gala.

Celebrities from across music, TV, film and sports descended on New York for the annual fundraising gala in Manhattan.

The theme of this year’s Met Gala is ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ and the event fell on Reese’s 22nd birthday.

‘I’m just excited to see everyone’s outfits – everyone looks amazing,’ she said. ‘I’ve always dreamed of this moment so being here on my 22nd birthday is amazing.

Meanwhile, Korda, a 13-time winner on the LPGA Tour, was a guest of Casey Wasserman – head of the sports marketing and talent management giant, Wasserman.

Korda, 25, was dressed in a red and green floral dress made by Oscar de la Renta. It was her first time at the event in New York.

Korda is eyeing a sixth-straight LPGA Tour victory this week at the Cognizant Founders Cup in Clifton, New Jersey.

The Florida native is currently the No 1 ranked female golfer in the world. She will be looking to win a second Olympic gold at this summer’s Games in Paris.

Reese was recently selected seventh overall by the Sky at the 2024 WNBA draft, following a brilliant college career which began at Maryland and ended at LSU.

Former NBA star turned television host Dwyane Wade also attended Met Gala, as did Brooklyn Nets player Ben Simmons, who sported an interesting outfit which drew scorn from many fans.

Simmons donned a jacket and coat that had plaid stylings on the top, accented with rings, a watch, and a briefcase that had a massive clock on it.

Sports fans lit Simmons up for his style choice – especially after the Nets star only played 15 games this NBA season.
