Gabbie Marshall is nearing the end of her journey with Iowa women’s basketball, and in a fierce game against West Virginia on March 25, the guard shined in an important moment for the game.

The fifth-year senior who arrived in Iowa from Ohio several years ago and “didn’t know much about Iowa” is now an “invaluable defender” for the Hawkeyes.

Marshall announced her return to the program in 2023, using her extra COVID year of eligibility.

Marshall is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Mount Notre Dame in Cincinnati, where she was the league’s player of the year in 2019, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The Hawkeyes player’s parents are Ernest and Marne Marshall. Ernest Marshall played college basketball at Bellarmine University in Louisville and Marne Marshall played a year of basketball at Aquinas College, according to the Iowa women’s basketball roster.
