Since storming out of his final NFL appearance two years ago, Antonio Brown’s offensive and vulgar behavior on social media has known no limits. At the peak of his playing days Brown carved out a reputation as one of the best in the business; helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the Super Bowl in 2021 and making it to the Pro Bowl on seven occasions, while also being named a First-team All-Pro four times. His story off the field, however, paints an entirely contrasting picture of the wideout from Miami – and a far less impressive one.

Long before officially hanging up his cleats for the first time last year, Brown was involved in countless scrapes with the law. From tossing his furniture out of a 14th-floor apartment window, and nearly hitting a 22-month-old toddler in the process, to allegations of sexual assault, trouble has seemed to follow him at every turn. Those legal problems have continued since his infamous football farewell at the New York Jets in January 2022, when he walked out on the Bucs midway through their game at MetLife Stadium after a sideline spat with his coaches and never returned to the field again.

Yet despite his successful career before that bitter finale, and the personal issues which have since followed, these days Brown is best known for being the outspoken, unusual and vile online troll with a history of upsetting and provoking people seemingly out of nowhere. Over the past month Caitlin Clark has emerged as the latest victim of his distasteful vitriol on X, formerly Twitter. The former Iowa college basketball superstar and new Indiana Fever recruit was forced to block Brown on the platform in April after he cruelly mocked her for being ‘hairy’ with a series of hateful comments and memes. ‘Can’t be cancelled if you already cancelled,’ he wrote afterwards.

And if that wasn’t enough, this week he took aim at Clark once more in an interview with Jason Whitlock, despite initially attempting to patch things up. After heaping praise on the 22-year-old, Brown added: ‘So shout out to you Caitlin Clark… and if it’s hairy don’t worry about it.’ It is the latest shameful outburst from an ex-player with a track record of bizarre, needless and unpleasant attacks on innocent targets. Even Brown’s former teammates have not been immune to his antics over the years; even a quarterback universally considered as the greatest of all time.

When rumors of Tom Brady’s marriage to Gisele Bundchen being on the rocks first surfaced in 2022, Brown sparked major controversy by taunting his former Patriots and Bucs colleague with mocked-up images of his now ex-wife. After initially posting an old photo that shows himself and Bundchen hugging after a New England game, he later shared an altered cover of the book ‘Daddy Doesn’t Live Here Anymore: A Book About Divorce’ with Brady’s face photoshopped onto one of the characters.

The cruel jibes later continued with a clearly photoshopped image of Brady’s ex-wife on the body of another woman’s naked body, one where he added his face to a picture of Brady being hugged from behind by Bundchen. Brady helped recruit Brown to the Bucs in 2020 and allowed for the former wide receiver to live with him before the start of the season. The iconic quarterback also vouched for him in 2019 to be brought onto the Patriots, only for him to be released after just one game following allegations of sexual and personal misconduct. The duo, who won a Super Bowl together in 2021, saw their relationship deteriorate after Brown slammed Brady following his controversial exit from Tampa Bay. In November 2022, the mercurial receiver created further controversy online when he shared a private message from his former teammate, who ripped into him for being a ‘young immature man’.

While it is unclear what prompted it, the alleged message from Brady read: ‘You are demonstrating very poor decisions and poor communication to so many people who have gone above and beyond to help you. You are acting selfish and unfortunately many of those people are exhausted by the erratic and unpredictable emotional behavior. When I met you, you were humble, willing to learn and anxious to improve things in your life. In a short period of time, you have done those things and accomplished some great things. And very much on the path to success long term. Unfortunately you have reverted very much back to a young immature man that is selfish, self serving, irrational and irresponsible.’ As far as sharing private details goes, posting a screenshot of Brady’s message is merely the tip of the iceberg in Brown’s case.

Back in 2022, Brown had his Snapchat account suspended and found himself under investigation after sharing an explicit photo of Chelsie Kyriss – the mother of his children. The controversial former NFL star took things way too far when sharing a photo of a Kyriss performing [a sexual act] in bed. The post was claimed to have been deleted prior to a report that Snapchat suspended his account. ‘I have reported his page and all pictures,’ Kyriss claimed to TMZ at the time. ‘Unfortunately Snapchat is allowing him to repost. I am very sorry for any of your kids that follow him and used to look at him as a role model. I do not condone these actions as you are aware I have kids involved as well.’ Kyriss is the mother of four of Brown’s children.

Rather than offer up and apology or try to avoid social media altogether following the episode, Brown took to Twitter (X) to share his thoughts, describing himself as ‘somewhere between psy.chot.ic and i.con.ic’. In two follow up tweets he added, ‘what more Can I SAY NOW?’ The other read: ‘Don’t play wit [sic] me, Play Football.’ Kyriss is not the only baby mom Brown has caused upset to over the years, nevertheless. The Super-Bowl winner has also endured a long-running dispute with Wiltrice Jackson – the mother of his 15-year-old daughter Antanyiah – over a $15,000 child-support payment.

Brown was arrested last October for allegedly neglecting to pay child support to Jackson, before being released a few days later on a $15,000 bond and then doling out the same sum to the mother of his daughter shortly after leaving jail. However, she had claimed that he owed her almost $31,000 when urging police to follow through with his arrest. One week after making the $15,000 payment to Jackson, Brown took shots at his former partner by posting a cartoon online which appeared to show him running away from a woman as she tries to take dollar bills from him. In the cartoon, onlookers could be seen watching on in shock as Brown, wearing a No 87 Pittsburgh Steelers jersey, attempts to get away from the woman.

He captioned the post on X: ‘[Expletive] Child Support………………..’ Despite the controversy and hurt he has caused online, Brown still appears to have an admirer in Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce, whose profile has skyrocketed over the past year amid his relationship with Taylor Swift , surprisingly claimed the troubled ex-football player is one of his favorite people to follow on social media earlier this year. During the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win over the Baltimore Ravens, Kelce broke Jerry Rice’s record for most postseason receptions in NFL history, prompting Brown to hail him as one of the ‘dopest crackers’ he knows on X.
