Angel Reese shows true colors with Hailey van Lith message after LSU transfer
She reserved some words for her former team-mate
The 21-year-old was the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and signed a contract worth 325,000 dollars with Chicago Sky, marking the start of her professional basketball career.

But Van Lith, who was expected to declare herself for the Draft, made a shock decision to transfer out of LSU and join another college program after a mixed season.
After weeks of speculation, the Washington native, 22, has made her choice by transfering to Texas Christian University (TCU) for the 2024 campaign before deciding on her options for the draft next time.
And Reese made it clear she was fully behind her, giving her a boost confidence with words of encouragement after Van Lith’s decision drew some criticism.
“Proud of you,” Reese wrote on X. “You know what to do & you know I’m always rocking with you.”
Why did Hailey van Lith transfer?
While Reese impressed for LSU, the 2023-24 campaign had as many highs as it did lows for Van Lith. She joined the program after a successful stint with Louisville, becoming their leading scorer, but didn’t settle in quite the same with LSU.
She finished with a 19.7 point average during her final season at Louisville but at LSU, her numbers dropped to 11.6 points per game while shooting 37.8 per cent from the field.

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey told reporters that Van Lith realized it’s best if she goes to a program where she “can relax and get back to my normal position,” hinting she may have felt the pressure at LSU.
Now, with TCU, she has a chance to wipe the slate clean ahead of her senior year, with the WNBA beckoning if she rediscovers her form at Louisville.
