Taylor Swift outshines boyfriend Travis Kelce in the Webby’s voting. Which award did the singer take home?
Since announcing their romance in September 2023, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have proven to be a power couple.
However, that doesn’t mean there’s no competition between them. On this occasion, it was the singer’s turn to surpass the NFL star to obtain one of the most prestigious awards on the Internet.
The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) created the Webby Awards in 1996. Since then, these awards have recognized the best in the digital entertainment and content creation industry year after year.
Each category awards two prizes. The first is the Webby Award, decided by the vote of the 3,000 members of the IADAS.
The second is the Webby People’s Choice Award, in which the public can vote for their favorite among the nominees.
This year, Swift and Kelce were competing in the category of Best Creator or Influencer Collaboration, Social, and the singer beat her boyfriend in both polls.
The category that Swift won this year recognizes the “Best, most innovative, and effective or creative examples of social media that leverage mentions of creators or influencers for marketing or promotional purposes,” as indicated by the IADAS on its official site.
The singer won the award thanks to her collaboration with the Vote.org platform. In a message on her social media, Swift recognized the work of this website, which aims to raise awareness and increase the participation rate in voting in the US, whether state or federal.
Kelce, on the other hand, was nominated for his collaboration in the Fashion Icons campaign of the restaurant chain The Cheesecake Factory.
The company was inspired by one of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s most striking outfits to create a bag for its to-go orders.
The IADAS did not reveal the votes but announced Swift as the winner of the category over Kelce.
However, Travis did not leave empty-handed. The NFL star took home two awards for the “New Heights” podcast that he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce.
Travis and Jason took home the People’s Voice Winner in the Podcasts Best Co-Hosts and Podcast Best Video Series categories. They were also nominated in the Podcasts Sports category.
Commentator and former NFL player Shannon Sharpe took home the special award for Advocate of the Year.
Michelle Obama won several awards for The Light Podcast: the Webby Awards for Advice & How-To and Best Series, as well as the People’s Voice Winner for Health, Wellness & Lifestyle, Best Series, and Advice & How-To.
