Taylor Swift reportedly 'has a savvy tactic to stop ex-boyfriends talking about her'

Taylor Swift’s exes usually keep quiet after their relationships, but why?

The Blank Space and Bad Blood hitmaker’s former boyfriends are often the subject of her biggest hits, with fans suggesting her split from Joe Alwyn was one of the main inspirations behind her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.

From Harry Styles to Matty Healy, why exactly do her exes rarely speak out about dating the Cruel Summer songstress? One leading lawyer has now claimed Taylor could well use non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to prevent chatter online and in the press.

“I don’t talk about my personal life in great detail,” Taylor said previously. “I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you’re going through.” But with no response from Joe or Matty on Swift’s latest release, legal expert Emma Gill is backing NDA theories from followers.

“Taylor Swift has settled a number of scores in song, yet cleverly ensured her ex-lovers rarely become liabilities,” the celebrity lawyer told MailOnline. “By definition, we’ll never really know what conditions are imposed by non-disclosure agreements – but you can find templates for ‘Relationship NDA’s’ online,” she told the outlet.

“The law is there to protect your reputation and prevent confidential information about you being used for someone else’s personal gain. These days, when so much is shared in public, shrewd millennials are also keen to set boundaries and expectations for social media, not to mention more intimate material, and a pre-nup will now often specify how photos or videos have to be deleted or returned along with the keys to the house or car.”

When Taylor reportedly dated Harry’s House hitmaker Styles, they pair reportedly had an “almighty row”. But since their split, he’s only ever spoken highly of her. Early boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal has said he didn’t mind reportedly featuring in one of her tracks, and when asked about his relationship with Taylor, actor Tom Hiddleston told a journalist: “I would rather not talk about this if that’s all right.”

The only person to speak about Taylor was John Mayer, who said he was humiliated by ‘Dear John’. Calvin Harris had also sent a series of tweets, but deleted them straight away and hasn’t spoken about her since, further fuelling Emma’s expert opinion.

“Kris Jenner apparently has a 100 pages of ‘dos and don’ts’ for anyone dating her family, and breaching the conditions imposed by another star can cost you a million dollars,” he told MailOnline.

“Young professionals, who have worked hard to build a decent life are increasingly up front about spelling out some ground rules early on about what they expect as a relationship progresses and what to avoid if they break up.”
