Written and directed by Rose Glass, Love Lies Bleeding features Kristen as Lou, a secluded gym manager captivated by the ambitious bodybuilder Jackie (played by Katy O’Brian).

Their passionate love story takes a dark turn, entangling them in the criminal web of Lou’s family, with Ed Harris, Dave Franco, and Jena Malone portraying her relatives.

‘It is a violent film,’ Glass told the crowd during the Sundance Film Festival, per Variety.

‘Violence can be great fun in films. We had amazing VFX and stunt coordinators, and the sound design was genius. Every department, you just have to try to push it to the max.’

Yet, she found delving into the character’s mental headspace more challenging. f

‘This role scared me. It was something I’d never done before. It was an intense part,’ she explained.

‘I worked with an acting coach, and we broke down the character.’

Jena, embodying the character’s sister, delved into the unique process of crafting their authentic and compelling sisterly connection.

‘We tackled each other a lot. It was very tactile,’ she said. ‘We have a kindred spirit.’
