Sydnie’s personality shone through as she laughed and joked on the Palladium stage before flexing her powerful vocals.
And it wasn’t long before fans remembered they’d seen her on screens before In E4‘s Stage School.
The programme, which ran for two series back in 2016 and 2017, followed the trials and tribulations of students at a real-life stage school from romances to auditions.
One person watching at home wrote on X: “I knew I recognised the girl’s name who got the golden buzzer on last night’s #BritainsGotTalent.
“Sydnie Christmas was on the E4 reality show stage school that aired a few years ago now. It was a cross between Glee & TOWIE.”
It would appear Sydnie was a stand-out performer on Stage School as one viewer said at the time: “Finally someone who can sing on Stage School. Sydnie.”
Gym worker Sydnie’s rendition of Tomorrow was based on West End and Celebrity Big Brother star Marisha Wallace’s version of the classic track.
Marisha watched the performance with interest and said on Instagram afterwards: “It’s been 4 years since I released my version of Tomorrow and the album with Steve Anderson.
“The money we raised helped so many starving artists during the pandemic. This is from when I performed it at the Royal Variety performance in 2020.
“My version has been used on many tv shows to this day and I heard Sydnie Christmas sang my version on BGT and got a gold buzzer!
“So happy the song lives on. Have a listen to it on all music platforms link in my stories because it still gives me hope for a better tomorrow
Sydnie was ecstatic, commenting: “I cannot thank you enough for making this version. YOU are my idol.”
To which Marisha replied: “so proud of you sis! You did me proud.”
During the first audition show of the series, Sydnie got a standing ovation from all four judges.
Amanda Holden was heard saying “it’s too early” as the crowd chanted Sydnie’s name for a golden buzzer.
The judge then told Sydnie: “That was the best version of it that I’ve heard heard in my mind, so I’m going to do this…”
In a surprise move, Amanda hit the golden buzzer – and sent Sydnie through to the semi-finals.
