Britain’s Got Talent returned to screens on Saturday night and one of the opening acts couldn’t resist asking Ant McPartlin to “come home with me” after the pair had met
Ant McPartlin’s brutal response to Britain’s Got Talent contestant’s cheeky request
Britain’s Got Talent host Ant McPartlin had a swift two-word reply for a bold contestant who cheekily asked him to “come home with me”.The show came back in grandeur on Saturday evening (April 20), and one of the first acts tried his charm on Ant after a firm handshake, only to be left disappointed by the presenter. After asking Ant if he’d like to go home with them, Ant swiftly responded: “No thanks.”His straightforward response led to his co-star Declan Donnelly and music teacher Mike Woodhams into fits of laughter. The vocal impressionist then took to the stage, wowing the judges and the audience with his phenomenal ability to impersonate a slew of famous singers.
The talented teacher entered wearing casual attire – jeans and a hoody, starting with a singing interpretation of James Blunt, followed quickly by Macy Gray and the popular songwriter Anastacia. Bruno thrilled him saying, “Best vocalist impression I’ve heard in a very long time.”

Elsewhere at the beginning of the brand new season, one fortunate act not only got a standing ovation from all present and the panel of four judges but even landed a golden buzzer.
Sydney Christmas walked onto the stage, letting the judges know her current job was the front of house at a gym something she wasn’t particularly passionate about. The receptionist harboured dreams of hitting it big in the WestEnd but hadn’t yet had her big moment.
However, that was about to change. Sydney revealed she would perform the song Tomorrow from the musical Annie, to which Simon audibly groaned, declaring it his least favourite tune. The gym worker from London then delivered her unique rendition of the iconic track, not leaving a single dry eye in the house with her “well-controlled” vocals.
Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, and Alesha Dixon all sprang to their feet in applause as the crowd’s chants for the judges to “press the buzzer” filled the room. Initially, it looked like Sydney might miss out on the golden buzzer and a direct pass to the finals when Amanda suggested to her fellow judges that it was “too soon” to be sending anyone straight through.
However, swayed by the audience’s fervent cheers or perhaps a change of heart, the Heart FM presenter slammed the coveted golden button. She dashed onto the stage to embrace Sydney while Simon remarked that “it was rare to receive a response like that”.
