MALCOLM in the Middle child star Frankie Muniz looks worlds away from his hit sitcom as he entered a huge reality show – while teasing a reboot of the series that made him a star.

Frankie is now 38 and played the title character in the comedy, which first hit screens 24 years ago in 2000.

And the actor recently returned to TV screens in Australia, as he is currently starring in the down under version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The series, which films in South Africa, launched its latest run this evening but before heading into the jungle, Frankie gave an interview where he teased a revival of the show that kickstarted his career.

‘Close to becoming a reality’

Chatting to website Pedestrian.TV, he revealed a Malcolm in the Middle reboot was on the cards after years of rumours.

Frankie said: “Without giving away too much because there’s nothing confirmed, but it’s the closest it’s ever been to being a reality.”

“I think it’d be a lot of fun to dive into that world and see where everybody is, as adults because really, the possibilities are endless where everybody can be,’ he said

“I’d love to explore it. And I know there are conversations happening.”

The series starred Breaking Bad legend Bryan Cranston as Malcom’s dad Hal, and Jane Kaczmarek as his mother Lois.

It aired on Fox in the US while in the UK it originally screened on Sky1.

Since then, the show has enjoyed multiple reruns on other channels and streaming services.

Life after Malcolm

The hilarious hit saw genius middle child Malcolm having to deal with the chaos of his dysfunctional family.

As well as his TV fame, Frankie also starred in the Agent Cody Banks movies.

After his stint on Malcom in the Middle ended in 2006, Frankie went on to star in various other TV programmes, reality shows and films.

Some include Criminal Minds, Blast Vegas and Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! and appeared as himself on Dancing with the Stars, Harley Quinn and Total Bellas.

More recently, he has explored a new career as a NASCAR racing driver.

Frankie is also happily married to wife Paige Price with the pair tying the knot in 2020.

The couple, who started dating in 2016, welcomed their son Mauz Mosley in March 2021.

Jungle fears

Now Frankie is braving the critters of the jungle and admitted in the first episode of I’m A Celeb that he was nervous but excited for what awaits him.

“People will think that I’m a typical Hollywood actor but that’s not who I am,” he said. “I like to get out of my comfort zone and this will get me out of my comfort zone.

“It’s going to be crazy and I know it’s going to be stuff that I don’t want to do but at the same time I’m ready for the challenge.”

In his intro VT, he pointed out that he was just 13 when he got his big break as a child star.

“I’m 38 now and I’m shocked that people still recognise me from when I was a kid,” he laughed.
