This Morning star Sian Welby’s life – surprise ENGAGEMENT to ‘DEVASTATING’ diagnosis

Sian Welby has been a TV and radio presenter for a number of years – and before her career in the media, she worked as a meteorologist for the Met Office.

Sian Welby has been captivating audiences as the new face on ITV’s This Morning, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

The 37 year old presenter, who made her return to television after welcoming her first child in June, has seamlessly integrated into the popular morning programme. Originally from Nottingham, Sian is recognised for her weather forecasts on Channel 5 News and her engaging presence on Heart FM radio.

Since her arrival on This Morning, Sian has given viewers a glimpse into her private life. We’ve taken a closer look.

Demetia

In a touching moment on the show, Sian opened up about her family’s struggle with a “devastating” health issue, which resonated with the audience and showcased her strength and “professionalism”.

Shortly after her debut on the show this year, Sian joined co-host Dermot O’Leary and the team of experts to discuss the day’s pressing topics. It was during a segment on innovative Alzheimer’s blood tests that Sian shared her personal connection to the disease, disclosing: “It’s one of the most devastating, my dad’s going through it, he has vascular dementia.”, reports the Mirror.

“You’re scared to lose a person that you know, it is quite frightening! Like you say, would I want to take a test knowing I could be susceptible to it? It’s hard to know! I don’t know if I want to know, is ignorance bliss? But then again, if I could do something about it?”

Sian Welby has received waves of praise for her authentic presenting approach after her major debut on the show. An impressed viewer tweeted: “@Sianwelby @thismorning Nice to see Sian on #thismorning Very professional and engaging #goodcall.”

In another tweet, someone applauded the on-screen chemistry: “#ThisMorning I’m really enjoying the @Sianwelby and @radioleary mix.. they work well together. Well done to Sian, it must be nerve-wracking presenting such a big morning show, she’s doing great.”

Sweet proposal

On the romantic front, Sian Welby is all set to walk down the aisle with Heart Breakfast producer, Jake Beckett. The happy pair declared their engagement in August last year after Beckett romantically proposed on a boat trip.

An elated Sian shared the surprise moment on social media: “On Tuesday I thought we were just going on a boat trip!! Genuinely didn’t see this coming.”

Reflecting on her engagement, she posted: “For once I am totally speechless. I didn’t think it mattered until he asked me, and then suddenly it meant everything. Love you Jakey.”

According to The Sun, love blossomed at work for the happy couple, with Jake being a producer at Heart Breakfast and Welby working under the same media group at Capital. Jake’s impressive CV includes collaborations with stars like Rochelle Humes of The Saturdays and This Morning fame, Emma Bunton from the iconic Spice Girls, and the glamorous model Kelly Brook.

Baby bliss

Sian Welby and her beau Jake are over the moon after welcoming their first child, Ruby, in June. Sian has been vocal about her newfound joy, declaring motherhood as “the best thing she’s ever done”.

While the Capital Radio host has kept the exact birthdate under wraps, she couldn’t resist sharing the news of Ruby’s arrival on Instagram on June 29, alongside adorable snaps, captioning it: “Our little Ruby [love heart emojis]”.

Romantic revelations

On a recent This Morning episode, Sian Welby made a love confession that perhaps was better left unsaid. During The Morning’s View segment, with regulars Tim Campbell and Nick Ferrari, they tackled the topic of first loves.

Nick, Tim, and Craig dived into their past experiences, but it was Sian’s unexpected admission that caught everyone off guard.

Craig posed the question, “Do you remember your first love,” prompting Sian to admit: “Yes, embarrassingly it was Lumiere the candle stick from Beauty and the Beast. He was so handsome and that French accent…”

She continued, “Moving on, I’m going to go viral for all the wrong reasons,” prompting a burst of laughter before swiftly transitioning to the next subject. A snippet of the episode was subsequently posted on This Morning’s Instagram account, which Sian re-posted with the comment: “You know when you regret saying something out loud.”
