Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford has opened up on her sad body confidence struggles and her fears of aging following her split from husband Eamonn Holmes

Ruth Langsford has candidly opened up on her fears of aging following her split from Eamonn Holmes.

The Loose Women presenter, 64, split from her husband Eamonn, also 64, earlier this year. She is yet to discuss the separation in her own words, but has now revealed her insecurities. Ruth and Eamonn were married for 14 years and share son Jack. The presenter is said to want to “draw a line” under her marriage, despite having been spotted still wearing her wedding ring.

In an open chat with her co-stars Coleen Nolan, Brenda Edwards and Kelly Holmes, Ruth shared her body confidence struggles. She said: “When I hit 60, it seems to have happened very quickly. You know me, I don’t tend to worry much about age. But at 60 until now, I am now 64, I feel that everything has drooped and sagged and have a funny neck.”

She was met by laughter from the audience as she quipped: “You are supposed to go ‘no Ruth’.” The former This Morning star continued: “I can see it. When you take a selfie or something, whereas before I didn’t really notice it. Now I do and I go ‘ugh look at that’.”

Ruth explained: “We promote very much on here, body positivity, confidence, age is just a number. I teeter on this tight rope of trying very hard to be that woman ‘age is just a number, count your blessings in life, all my friends look like this…’ Then I have those moments where I could just fall off the tight rope and go ‘look at my neck it’s awful’.”

Her co-star Coleen recently revealed the Loose Women stars have been supporting Ruth away from screens. It has been alleged Ruth had found messages between her husband and other women on his laptop. Since their split became public in May, Ruth took some time away from the Loose Women panel to deal with her marital issues, but made her return to the show on July 22.

In an interview with Bella Magazine, Coleen said: “The Loose Women have supported me through two divorces so we are very contrary to what most people try and say about us, that we fight. I’m closer to the women that I work with at the beginning of the week: Ruth, Janet Street-Porter, Brenda Edwards, Judi Love, sometimes Linda Robson, Christine Lampard.

“But we’ve got a WhatsApp group for all of us and when someone needs support, that group just lights up. We’re saying: ‘Here if you need me, or, phone me.'” Coleen, who is now in a relationship with Michael Jones, played down her support for Ruth. She insisted it was what her friend had done for her when she split from husband, Shane Richie. Coleen said: “I support her like she supported me when my marriage was not in a good place. And Ruth was really supportive. That’s what friends do.”
