This Morning fans were full of praise as Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle took to the stage to fill in for Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley as viewers demand for them to be permanent hosts

This Morning fans all had the same thing to say about hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

Surprisingly, the hashtag on X – which was once known as Twitter – was full of praise on Thursday (August 1st), with many social media users sharing their glee for Josie and Craig, who are stepping in to replace Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard while they take summer breaks.

Online users were delighted to see the Bristolian-native and the Irish star at the hosting helm and took to the platform to gush pleasantries, while also begging ITV producers to make them permanent fixtures on the programme.

One comment read: “Craig & Josie should be full-time presenters! #ThisMorning.” Another echoed: “Craig and Josie showing they have way more chemistry in 2 minutes than Ben and Cat have had since they joined the show #thismorning.”

A third person chimed in adding: “Best presenters today, please make Josie and Craig permanent @itv #ThisMorning.” While a fourth person wrote: “Craig and Josie, yes please.”

The warm welcome was a contrasting response to last weeks stand-in hosts, Alison Hammond – who normally presents with X Factor star Dermot O’Leary on Friday’s – but was instead joined by Joel Dommett.

Returning to ITV screens today, Josie and Craig engaged in a bit of banter as they reunited, telling fans they’d “missed each other” but the Irish star wanted to assess how much.

He asked: “On a scale of one to ten, how much have you missed me,” as Josie responded: “About an eight.” Happy with her reply, he chirped back: “I’ve been a seven before, so I’ll take that.”

Meanwhile, Craig appeared to forget his lines and apologised to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star and viewers at home for being a bit “rusty”.

Craig said: “Coming up on today’s show…” as he then turned to his co-host to ask: “Shall I do that bit,” with Josie commenting: “Yeah,” while laughing.

He jibed: “I forgot, I’m a bit rusty,” and then began to reel off what was to come on Thursday’s programme.
