The stream flows meandering, winding, the upper section has small rapids and waterfalls, and in the stream bed there are large and small round rocks formed by flowing water over many years. On both sides of the stream, the trees are dense, lush and green all year round.

Con Son Stream has created a special feng shui landscape for the relic complex. The stream originates from Ngu Nhac and Con Son mountains. Ngu Nhac Mountain is a sacred mountain range, stretching from North to South with a length of more than 4 km, the highest peak is 238 m, located northeast of Con Son. Ngu Nhac symbolizes the 5 directions (four directions and central directions: East, West, South, North and center, corresponding to the elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth). On the mountain, the ancients built 5 temples to worship the god Ngu Phuong Ngu Lao Quan, so they called it “Ngu Nhac Linh Tu”. Five Directions Five Elders include: Emperor Thanh in the East, Emperor Bach in the West, Emperor Xich in the South, Emperor Black in the North and Hoang De in the Central (center).

Ngu Nhac is also considered a blessed land, the residence of Buddhas, Saints and fairies who rule over good, bad, bad, and happy events, dominate all species and govern trees, mountains, forests, and ravines. Con Son spring water originating from here is rare and precious, considered vitality for the whole region…

Along the Con Son stream bed, during the formation process, there are enough rapids and windings, creating a charming mountain and water landscape, then flowing into Ban Nguyet Lake and Con Son Lake. These two lakes are naturally formed and are special in that, Crescent Lake is the Minh Duong of Con Son Pagoda and Con Son Lake is the Minh Duong of Nguyen Trai Temple, with special mountains, lakes, and streams that the ancients saw as Rare land, sacred land with outstanding people…

Con Son Stream is associated with famous names, great cultural figures, and prominent politicians: mandarin Tran Nguyen Dan; National Liberation Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai; Cao Bat Quat; Hero of national liberation, outstanding Vietnamese cultural figure, President Ho Chi Minh…

Thau Ngoc Bridge spans Con Son stream

Con Son Stream has two large, relatively flat rocks called Thach Ban. Small Thach Ban is about 70 m 2 wide , the surface has a beautiful brown lipstick color, large Thach Ban is about 200 m 2 upstream and is called Five Gian Stone.

On Con Son stream, there are Thau Ngoc bridge and Stone bridge, which are also highlights of the stream. Thau Ngoc Bridge is designed in the style of Thuong Gia Ha Kieu (covered bridge). Nguyen Trai often goes to this bridge to admire the scenery, write poetry and enjoy tea: “Dinh Thau Ngoc fairy is green with snow milk/Double plum blossoms highlight the book Hy Kinh”.

By the end of the 19th century, Thau Ngoc Bridge was considered a beautiful structure in Con Son. When Cao Ba Quat returned to visit Thanh Hu cave, he went to Thau Ngoc bridge to enjoy and write the famous Con Son poem: “Thau Ngoc kieu bien navigator/Thanh Hu dong ky van de bird” (On the side of Thau Ngoc bridge fresh forest flowers good/ In Thanh Hu cave, birds chirping).

With rare scenery and great historical and cultural value, on February 15, 1965, Uncle Ho visited Con Son. Uncle Ho went up the mountain, into Thanh Hu cave, to the foundation of Nguyen Trai’s house and stopped at Thach Ban on the bank of the stream, where Uncle Ho advised: “Officers and people must protect historical relics well, plant many trees to protect the environment.” Son becomes a beautiful place for forests.”

Over the years, Thau Ngoc Bridge no longer exists. In 2011, the Provincial People’s Committee decided to rebuild this bridge on Con Son stream. The bridge was built in the ancient architectural style, on both sides are 2 Nghinh Phong floors, a place for tourists to rest and enjoy the wind. The floor on the right is built in a hexagonal shape, the floor on the left is octagonal, signifying the meaning of being a place of bestowing wealth and fortune, bringing peace to everyone.

In front of the three-entrance gate of Nguyen Trai temple, the bulging stream bed is considered a lake. This lake is stocked with beautiful lotus and water guns. Across the lake is a stone bridge also designed in the ancient style, with water carving stations on three sides, support beams with stylized designs of dragon heads… very suitable for the landscape of temples and pagodas here.

Currently, in the summer (from May to August), Con Son stream attracts a large number of tourists from all over, especially teenagers. Coming here, visitors can comfortably wade in the stream, admire the scenery, take photos… with the cool water flowing along the stream.

Recently, there was a time when, due to many reasons, Con Son stream ran out of water. According to the Institute of Hydropower (Vietnam Institute of Irrigation Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the cause is the decline in groundwater levels in the areas surrounding the Con Son and Ngu Nhac mountains; Geological cracks and faults along the stream, due to geological shaking, widen the cracks, causing water loss…

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Lien, Head of the Con Son – Kiep Bac Relics Management Board, said: The restoration of the Con Son stream flow is extremely urgent, demonstrating appropriate behavior with the historical stream, containing weak elements. Cultural and spiritual elements, rich in traces of famous people in this sacred relic. Currently, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Institute of Hydropower are actively completing the technical plan to restore the flow of Con Son stream. It is expected that by the end of 2023, the application project will be implemented.

With that great value, it is hoped that the stream will soon be restored, creating a highlight of the monument, while promoting its inherent values, contributing to beautifying the landscape, attracting a large number of people to visit. , enjoy.
