Former LSU standout Angel Reese is less than a week away from making her WNBA regular-season debut for the Chicago Sky.

The No. 7 overall pick in April’s WNBA Draft, Reese took some time on Wednesday to answer a few questions after the Sky concluded their preseason slate earlier in the week.

At multiple points during the sit-down with the media, Reese referenced former LSU coach Kim Mulkey while speaking about her new head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon.

“I love Coach [Weatherspoon], she’s kind of like Coach Mulkey,” Reese replied to a question about her new coach, via Chicago State of Mind Sports. “Being able to be a tough coach that you have to have thick skin [around]. You also have to be willing to be coached by her.

“She pays attention to detail. She’s a legendary coach, a legendary player.”

That wasn’t the last time Reese would mention her former coach during the media session.

Later asked about the trust required between a player and coach in order for her to attend the 2024 Met Gala earlier this week, Reese once again name-dropped her former coach.

“Just being able to have faith in me,” Reese replied. “Obviously, I would’ve known if I didn’t perform last night. I knew [coach Weatherspoon] probably wouldn’t have said nothing to me, but I already knew in the back of my head what Coach Mulkey would’ve thought.

“So, she gives me coach Mulkey [energy], but she don’t say as much as Coach Mulkey.”

Reese and the Sky will open the regular season on May 15th against the Dallas Wings.
