BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Former LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese shared some words on social media after receiving criticism from fans after leaving a Chicago Sky practice early Monday to attend the 2024 Met Gala.
Reese celebrated her 22nd birthday in style as she was seen wearing a dress by 16Arlington by London designer Marco Capaldo at the 2024 Met Gala, according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, from the WNBA.
The former LSU women’s basketball star shared the following statement online after receiving criticism for attending the event.
“So now y’all can delete them drafts and tweets saying I shouldn’t have gone to the Met Gala, and I can’t do both. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” said Reese.
It was a quick turnaround for Reese as the Chicago Sky had their second preseason game on Tuesday night against the New York Liberty. The Sky came away with a 101-53 win over the Liberty. Reese finished the game with 13 points, five rebounds, an assist and two steals.
The Sky will open the 2024 regular season against the Dallas Wings at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15.
