Fans wanting to see Bronny James play are forced to take a hiatus as the USC Trojans end their season on a dismal note. The team went 15-18 overall, despite being the top candidates to win the Pac-12 during preseason. With that, Bronny did not make it to the March Madness, paving grounds for the ongoing narrative around his NBA journey.
LeBron James, during the All-Star weekend, refrained from asserting any remarks on Bronny’s future, while claiming that the decision depends on the 19-year-old’s comfort. With that, two storylines hang in balance: Bronny can either declare for the 2024 drafts or hone his skills for another year in college.
On the recent episode of THE ODD COUPLE, journalist Rob Parker and actor Kerry Rhodes dwelled on the possibility of the Lakers drafting young Bron. 3 anonymous NBA executives advise Bronny to stay in school, they expect him to appear in the coming drafts. With that, Parker emphatically voices the same. However, while citing his reasons, he said, “The Lakers will do anything they can, so LeBron and Bronny will play together. The Lakers have done everything LeBron has asked so far. They’re beholden to him.”
Backing his take, Rob hints at the Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma’s trade upon James entry in their roster. With that, he mentions Anthony Davis‘ acquisition; something LeBron had desired. With that, Rob argues, “Why would they stop now? If they passed on Bronny, would LeBron be happy?”
LeBron, though the recent years, has displayed a stance to play alongside Bronny James in the NBA. With his ultimate desire and the restricting window put on his dream due to his age, Parker mentions, “LeBron James championship biological clock is ticking, he can’t wait another year or two.”
Can the Lakers draft Bronny James in 2024?
For the 2024 drafts, the Los Angeles Lakers have a second round pick, courtesy of a trade involving Patrick Beverly. However, despite having not rights to a 1st round pick, things can lean towards them.
Currently, the New Orleans Pelicans own the Lakers 2024 1st round pick (Antony Davis’ trade). However, if the Pelicans choose to refrain from using it this year, the Lakers can potentially have their say and draft Bronny in the process. While there is no timeline on Pelicans’ decision, it can be expected sometime in June.
Ex-Lakers Star Points Finger at LeBron James for ‘Bipolar’ Bronny James Remark
LeBron James is currently in the first year of his 2-year extension with the Lakers. However, he has a player option for the next year, enabling him to end his tenure with the franchise. Even though the superstar has not resonated such stance, the ongoing narratives hint that the Lakers intend to keep James; and could make pivotal changes in near future to keep him happy.
