The reason behind Match of The Day and The One Show presenter Jermaine Jenas sacking have come to light.
Jermaine Jenas was sacked after a female member of staff on The One Show alleged she received unsolicited communications over text from him.
The BBC confirmed an investigation was launched following “allegations involving digital communications such as texts” received a few weeks ago. In a short statement confirming his exit a BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”
The communications in question were to a colleague who raised concern about them with her bosses. “This is a categorical nightmare for the BBC,” a source told The Sun.
“Complaints were raised concerning Jermaine’s behaviour. After some immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract.”
His lucrative contract, which saw him in prime presenting roles on The One Show and Match Of the Day, was terminated earlier this week, because of the alleged issues relating to workplace behaviour.
The reason for Jeramine Jenas sacking has been revealed
He was last seen on air on July 22 when he hosted the broadcaster’s flagship tea time show The One Show opposite Alex Jones. Before this, he had been a regular face on the BBC’s platforms through his work on the magazine show and Match Of The Day.
His lucrative contract saw him earn £190,000 – £194,999 from the BBC for his work on the FA Cup, Match of the Day and the World Cup.
Jenas was dealt a further blow as he was brutally sacked from his second job at talkSPORT while working live on air after the BBC confirmed his dismissal.
Jermaine Jenas was a regular presenter on The One Show alongside Alex Jones and Roman Kemp
He surprised listeners by appearing on the channel on Thursday (August 22). Just moments after his sacking became public knowledge, Jenas was working as normal alongside Darren Bent, Jermaine Pennant and Aaron Lennon in the talkSPORT studio.
At the start of the show, Jenas suggested that he was standing in for usual host Andy Goldstein, saying: “We’re here aren’t we? They have chucked me right into the hot seat.”
He was also scheduled to host talkSPORT Drive’s live show on Friday evening but will no longer be doing so after his sudden sacking from the BBC, according to reports.
MailOnline reports plans for the 41-year-old to feature on talkSPORT Drive at the same time tomorrow have now been changed and this will no longer be the case.
