Les Dennis, 70, who was voted out of Strictly Come Dancing first in 2023, has now spoken about his time on the show as allegations of abusive behaviour have emerged
Strictly Come Dancing star Les Dennis has spoken out following the recent scandal surrounding the BBC show. The 70 year old appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to talk about his latest role in Ghost The Musical with hosts Richard Madeley and Trisha Goddard.
Richard was curious to know what the atmosphere was like behind the scenes, asking: “What was the atmosphere like when you were there? It was only a year ago, you’ve seen all these stories, all these allegations, did you see anything at all?”

Les explained that because he was only on the show for a fortnight, most of his rehearsals were done separately, reports the Express. The actor admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed his time on the show, adding: “It’s the hardest thing ever! I used to joke with friends that I felt like I was a black swan!”
He continued: “Because it’s tough! Your partner, you know your professional partner wants to win as much as you do and really wants to push you outside of your comfort zone.”
Richard replied: “Possibly more than you do. I think that’s possibly where the tensions have arised.” Les admitted: “Might be, might be, yeah.”
Allegations of misconduct on the BBC’s hit series Strictly Come Dancing have cast a shadow over the show recently. Amanda Abbington, 50, brought forward serious claims against her co-star Giovanni Pernice alleging “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean” treatment during rehearsals.

She stated: “I found Giovanni’s behaviour unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean. I couldn’t sit back and let him do that to other people.”
Furthermore, she remarked: “I had to think long and hard about making a complaint because I knew the backlash I would get. But I would not have been able to live with myself for future people going on that show.”
In response, Giovanni vehemently denied these allegations and made the decision to depart from the programme.
Amidst this turmoil, fellow professional dancer Graziano Di Prima has also chosen to exit Strictly Come Dancing ahead of the 2024 series, following separate allegations raised by his former training partner, Zara McDermott.
