BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty was left feeling “bereft” on the red sofa this morning as she discussed the Paris Olympics coming to an end
During Saturday’s edition of BBC Breakfast, Naga Munchetty confessed she felt “bereft” and would deeply “miss” the Olympics following its conclusion. Naga, alongside her co-host Charlie Stayt, chatted with Olympic champions like Bryony Page.
In the lead-up to chatting with the medallists, both presenters shared their feelings of longing for the games that just ended. Opening the segment, Naga said: “Hello. You’re watching Breakfast with Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty.”
“Just coming up to 8:30 and we’ve spoken a little bit about how we’re missing the Olympics,” Charlie contributed to the discussion.
“Bereft,” interjected Naga, as Charlie described the mixed emotions that come with the event:”Missing those moments of watching the challenges, success, failures. It all comes as part of the package, doesn’t it?”
Naga then added they were celebrating the winners who brought back medals from Paris that morning, but also reminded viewers to be ready for the upcoming Paralympics starting on the 28th, reports the Express.

After discussing Bryony’s victory, a heartfelt Naga told her: “Thank you, because you’ve brought so much joy to the whole of Team GB, and we… I am bereft that it’s over but I am looking forward to the Paralympics.”
Bryony responded enthusiastically, expressing anticipation for the Team GB homecoming: “I’m looking forward to the Team GB homecoming tonight because we’re going to be celebrating with all the team and I haven’t seen them since we left, so it’d be really nice to see them all again.

In a lighter moment on the show, Naga playfully silenced her colleague Hugh Ferris which prompted a light-hearted apology from him.
They had earlier been talking to Olympic rowers Emily Craig and Imogen Grant before Hugh’s amusing concession.
Discussing the Olympic wins, Hugh remarked, “14 gold medals a lot of which we will be talking about today,” as he moved on to present the sports update.
In a bout of friendly banter, Naga queried if he could go one better, to which Hugh cheekily responded: “Yes, I can top that with one goal, the opening match of the Premier League season. How about that if it is about numbers?”
Naga quipped back: “You don’t win today.”
Hugh jovially admitted defeat, saying: “I have failed Hugh,” and humbly apologised: “I apologise to both of you and to Imogen and Emily as well.”
